Convert WAV to FLAC

Encode supported 16-bit PCM WAV audio as FLAC without changing the decoded samples, sample rate or channel count.

Selecting a file does not upload it. Upload and convert sends it to temporary server storage. One file at a time; 25 MiB maximum.

Supported formats: .wav

How it works

  1. Select one supported .wav file and read the limits below.
  2. Choose Upload and convert to start temporary server processing. You can cancel while it runs.
  3. Download the validated .flac result before its one-hour expiry and review the contents.

Use FLAC to store supported PCM recordings in a lossless audio format. The decoded audio samples remain the same; this is encoding, not a quality enhancement. File size reduction is not guaranteed.

Supported documents and limitations

One file, up to 25 MiB and 60 seconds. Only 16-bit PCM WAV or 16-bit FLAC, 8–48 kHz, mono or stereo. Sample rate and channels are preserved. Tags and cover art are not retained. Output may be larger; this does not improve source quality.

Temporary server processing

Your file is uploaded only when you choose to convert. An isolated worker processes it without network access. Uploaded files expire after one hour; completed outputs expire one hour after completion. Failed, cancelled or deleted jobs become eligible for immediate cleanup. Service outages can delay physical deletion; a previously issued download link can remain valid briefly. Clear files to request early deletion. Downloads saved on your device remain there.

Frequently asked questions

Is WAV to FLAC lossless?

For the supported 16-bit PCM inputs, decoding the generated FLAC reproduces the original samples. Unsupported bit depths and compressed WAV codecs are rejected.

Where is my file processed?
