How to use Add Page Numbers to PDF

  1. 1

Select a plain PDF and read its pages.

  2. 2

Choose the first number and either top-center or bottom-center placement.

  3. 3

Create a numbered PDF and review the overlay positions before sharing.

Give a compiled packet a continuous sequence

Number a report after merging its chapters or continue an existing series by starting at a number other than one. A small, dark text label is drawn on every page. Placement uses the visible crop box and quarter-turn orientation, keeping the label aligned to the displayed page rather than its unrotated coordinates.

What to expect

Numbers are added over existing content; no extra margin is inserted and old printed numbers are not erased. Pages smaller than 72 points in either visible dimension are rejected. This does not change PDF page-label metadata or table-of-contents links.

Private browser processing and practical limits

Your PDF content is processed in this browser and is not uploaded to FileNimble. Input and output remain in memory until you clear the tool or leave the page. Downloads are saved by your browser. Large or unusually complex PDFs can exceed available device memory even below the stated limits; use a smaller plain PDF if processing fails.

Encrypted PDFs, interactive forms, signed documents, portfolios, embedded files and scripts are rejected. Document-level bookmarks and navigation structures are not preserved by page-copy operations. Results are not certified archival, redacted or sanitized documents. Review important output before sharing.

Will old page numbers be removed?

No. This is an overlay. Choose a position that does not collide with existing text and inspect the downloaded document.

Does it support Roman numerals?

No. This release uses ordinary decimal numbers at top center or bottom center.
